First chapter: State Female Normal School (now Longwood University), Farmville,
Virginia

Philanthropy: Kappa Delta has four national philanthropies: Girl Scouts of the USA, Prevent
Child Abuse America, the Children's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, and the
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Awards. Every Kappa Delta chapter
across the country hosts an annual fundraising event, called Shamrock, which
raises money for Prevent Child Abuse America and local child protection
agencies. All chapters hold events for local Girl Scout troops every semester,
as well. Additionally, our chapter hosts a Halloween Carnival each October with
Pi Beta Phi for underpriveleged children in the Austin area.
